Nigerian logistics and supply chain firm Aimpexx has launched Godofreda, a new digital sourcing platform designed to connect African traders directly with verified manufacturers worldwide. The initiative aims to eliminate traditional middlemen and address the persistent trust challenges that have long complicated cross-border trade for the continent’s importers.

The platform allows buyers to discover, verify, and order products from factories through a social media-style interface. This system is built around short-form video content, live product demonstrations, and integrated ordering capabilities.

This launch arrives during a difficult period for Nigerian importers. They continue to grapple with foreign exchange volatility, rising freight costs, and tighter profit margins. These economic pressures have subsequently increased the demand for more transparent and efficient sourcing channels to reduce overall supply chain costs.

A Direct Line to the Factory Floor

Olayanju Ifeoluwa, founder and chief executive officer of Aimpexx, said the platform was inspired by his own experience of losing a shipment while sourcing goods internationally.

“Every African who has ever sent money abroad and then prayed knows exactly why we built this,” he said. “I lost a container to learn what this market loses every day. Not the money but the trust. Godofreda exists so that the next person does not have to pay that price.”

For small and medium-sized businesses across the continent, the inability to inspect goods physically before payment has historically acted as a formidable barrier to entry in international trade. By replacing the opaque network of agents with a verified digital pipeline, the platform reduces the information asymmetry that often favors the seller. This shift could significantly lower the cost of goods for end consumers if the savings on logistics and fraud prevention are passed down the chain.

Ifeoluwa noted that Africa participates in approximately $1.4 trillion in annual trade flows but remains largely dependent on foreign-controlled trade infrastructure.

“Roughly $1.4 trillion moves in and out of Africa every year, and almost none of it moves on rails we built,” he said. “Africa has always been on the map of global trade. We were just never the ones holding the pen.”

Verification and Logistics

According to the company, the platform was developed to solve one of the biggest barriers facing African importers: the lack of trust between buyers and overseas suppliers.

“For decades, the distance between African traders and a factory floor in Guangzhou has been measured not in kilometres but in trust,” the company said in a statement. “Money moves first. Goods move later, if they move at all. Somewhere between the two sits an agent, and their reputation is the only guarantee anyone has.”

Unlike conventional business-to-business marketplaces that rely on static catalogues, Godofreda enables manufacturers to publish video feeds showcasing their products. This allows buyers to follow factories, watch live product launches, and place orders within the same application.

The platform is built on Aimpexx’s existing logistics and fulfilment network rather than operating solely as an online marketplace. Aimpexx currently maintains operations in Lagos, Nigeria, and Guangzhou’s Liwan District in China. The company has established supplier relationships in these regions and provides sourcing, inspection, manufacturing coordination, and shipping services.

The company stated that every manufacturer and vendor listed on the platform undergoes verification processes before they get approved. The platform also incorporates payment processing, transparent pricing, buyer protection, and real-time shipment tracking from factory to final delivery.

“We are not making it easier to buy from China. We are making it safe to,” Ifeoluwa said. Beyond serving African buyers, the platform offers manufacturers direct access to African markets by enabling them to showcase products through video content, receive orders, and manage fulfilment from a single dashboard.
